Entry from: San Francisco, United States Entry Title: “Escape from Alcaraz” Entry: “Ok…its official… I am the worlds worst backpaker… When it comes to slumming it, I can hack it with best of them… But when there is the occasional option of a bit of luxury I have to take it…I just cant help it… So when I arrived in San Fran and took one look at the state of the hostel (that was about the only one in the whole city), I did the only thing any normal self respecting man would do …and checked straight into the `Sheraton` on Fishermans Wharf. You should have seen the disapproving looks they gave me walking through the lobby with my backpack and shorts on… Still. was well worth it, especially with pound so strong against the dollar… it was a relative bargain! OK I could have stayed in a hostel for 2 weeks with what it costs but bollocks. I’m in San Fran and I’m damn well gonna enjoy it. What a city… Firstly the shops are from heaven… OK so I’m traveling and not supposed to be shopping, but I cant help it… Ive had the same clothes since the last time I brought a new load in Australia… What? you expected me to spend a year in the same clothes… yeah right. A month is hard enough… So union square is the place… they have it all, Saks fifth avenue, Tiffany’s, bloomingdales …
